Mitaphane: "Mee-tah-feign"
I've been using this name since I've started using the Internet. When I signed up for AOL was tired of having all my user name choices already taken. So I decided I would come up with a name no one has used. I chose a few sounds that I liked, Meta into Mita, a "ph" f sound, and ended with a "ane." The result was Mitaphane. It has been used for AOL, AIM, Yahoo, and other such accounts.

You can find Mitaphane at many places, such as:

Reluctantly accepting friend requests on a fake MySpace page

If the Name Don't Rhymes It Ain't Mine...
I don't know how long it's been since I've heard people mention that my name rhymes; after you hear something so many times from people you start to forget about it. I've never really considered it to rhyme much. They both share the same "unnn" sound; that's the best way I can describe the sound in words. Technically, it's called a masculine rhyme, a rhyme that's stressed on the last syllables. Since it's a consonant, which would also make my rhyming name a consonance as well, it doesn't have as much punch as something like Shawn Dawn. But whatever, it rhymes I suppose.
My exploitation of this fact started with one email I sent; I signed it with Shawn "If the Name Don't Rhyme It Ain't Mine" Conn. Many of my friends liked it so much it stuck. In keeping with that theme, my blog, turn website, was named "The Man With the Name that Rhymes"(www.shawnconn.com). Not only did it keep to my rhyming theme it also had the effect of making me sound like one cool James Bond villain. Unfortunately for my persona, my plans for world domination have gone anywhere. I'll have to keep working on my villianry I suppose.
Video Gaming & Gaming Music:
I have has only a few passions in life. If was to list my greatest passion it'd be video gaming. Since I was 7 I've been playing video games for a significant portion of my life. Around the time of high school I seriously considered doing it as a career. Of course, it's not as easy as that; not only do you need drive, you need talent. As I've gotten older, my passion for gaming as faded for a number of reason. Combined with a general burnout I had for programming after I finished my CS degree, I never got anywhere beyond musing about making video games. Nevertheless I still have goals in my life. I like picking up new subjects, learning new things, and accomplishing new goals. Perhaps I will get back to my original goal of making a video game. But if not I still I have plenty of things to accomplish.
Not surprising, video gaming in my life has also effected my music collection. Not that I'm really particular to that genre; I've always enjoyed a wide variety of music. However, game music(or electronic music)must be my favorite genre. If you look at my MP3 collection, about 2/3 of it is video game music. I guess it really shouldn't surprise me since I spend more time playing video games than listening to music. If you surround yourself around a particular type of music you start to appreciate it. Of course it's also tougher to pin down exactly what video game music is too as it cover a wide variety of genres(depending on what type of game you're playing).
