If you watch many movies or pay attention to fine details in them, you may have noticed the use of some common Hollywood sound effects. I'm not much an expert in this, but as far as I can tell sound engineers have built up quite a backlog of effects over the years. There are a ton that look to be the public domain that are constantly recycled in movies.
One of my particular favorites is The Scream. I'm not so certain what to call it since I have yet to find a particular name, or any sort of information for that matter, during my research. Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the Willhelm. While the Willhelm is a good example, I think it pales compared to The Scream; it's much more visceral and emotive. It's also much more funny to hear it movies just because how much it stands out.
For now this is all I know about The Scream. I've included the audio (below) as well as a few other media you might find the sound effect in. I welcome any more information or additions to my list.
